On Thursday 16th September 2004, Jezz took me to Thorpe Park.

We set off at 9am and arrived there about 10.30am.  We were able to take advantage of the disabled & helper admission fee of £14 each.  This also gave us the ability to queue jump by using the disabled access where possible.  This made my day so much easier and minimized the time standing and waiting for rides.  Clicking on the Thorpe logo above will take you to their main website.  Now.. the fun stuff...

The following are on the on-ride souvenir  photos:

COLOSSUS

According to the write up for this ride, it's the World's first ten looping rollercoaster.  It has a g-force of 4 G's and the maximum speed is 82KMPH (which is 50.95 miles per hour).  However, when you get to the last five loops, the ride slows down and so you go through the corkscrew loops at half the speed.  First four loops go clockwise and then the last one, unexpectedly, goes anti-clockwise.  I checked my knuckles and yes... they were white after the ride!

NEMESIS INFERNO

I think this one has to be my favourite ride, probably because I thought of it as the most challenging whilst trying to get off to sleep the night before!  This ride is 4.5 G's and reaches speeds of 80KMPH (49.71MPH) and for those that don't know; you're suspended in your seats with your feet hanging free.  At times, you feel as though your legs are going to hit passers by as they walk under where the ride is twisting and turning.

X:\ NO WAY OUT

Our third rollercoaster ride of the day was just a tad different... not only did it go backwards start to finish but it was also in total darkness!  Freaky!  Well, it wasn't that fast and it didn't have the loops and corkscrews of Colossus and Nemesis Inferno but on about three occasions, it did go stationary and all you could hear was the sounds of screams from other riders in other cars.

LOGGER'S LEAP

Traditional log flume water ride with the added bonus of any and every opportunity for Thorpe Park to get you wet... they certainly succeed each time with this fun ride.  There were two drops; one drop in the dark and then the other, after several wet and winding bends, was about 60 feet double drop and very wet at the bottom.

TIDAL WAVE

One of the craziest rides of them all...the Tidal Wave is a complete drencher... I recommend you only go on this ride if you're mad but more importantly... at the very end of your theme park trip.  I mean... Jezz and I (and everyone else for that matter) were so totally soaked, when we got out of this ride, we were able to wring our clothes out.  Now, if that wasn't bad enough, on your exit there is a walk bridge that crosses the path of the Tidal Wave so there's a second chance of you getting drenched again! Hahaha! No, but we watched others! Fascinating fact: this is one of Europe's biggest water ride drops... of an amazing 85 feet drop.

AND FINALLY... HERE'S SOME PHOTOS TAKEN BY ME DURING OUR DAY AT THORPE PARK
