Thank you Barry and Mel


Around Christmastime 2014, our wonderful gardener Barry and his wife Mel kindly gave us a gift voucher to dine at anyone of the Gordon Ramsay restaurants. We chose the Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, 68 Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, London. We booked it sometime ago in April of this year for Tuesday 30 June 2015 at 2.15pm.

1 Pea mousse was an hors d'œuvre served with a homemade ricotta and is presented with baby spring veg and flowers.
2 Agnolotti served with young peas, broad beans, St. George, mushrooms, mint, majoram and sariette de banon.
3 Fillet of Cornish Cod wrapped in kombu, sesame with shiitake mushrooms and grilled onion.
4 Roasted rabbit loin with Bayonne ham, baked turnips, toasted hazelnuts and pickled mustard seed.
5 Roast pineapple with coconut parfait, coriander, rum and lime sorbet.
6 Strawberry ice cream coated in white chocolate and served over smoking dry ice. Also served with a chocolate peanut brittle and elderflower Turkish delight.


Ambience - the restaurant, if you're not used to fine dining can be a little daunting and if allowed, a tad intimidating. Understandably, as soon as you're escorted to your table you are aware that the dining room is full but any awkwardness is quickly diluted by the friendliness of the waiting staff. The tables are dressed beautifully and yet simply. There is ample space between tables and you certainly do not feel that your are sitting next to strangers on another table.

Quality of food - in each of the six dishes that were served, I cannot fault anything about them. Everything was superb, the flavours complimented one another in a way that I had not experienced before, e.g., the mint amongst the Agnolotti and the coriander with the pineapple... amazing! Also, how the flavour of the rabbit just kept coming with each single mouthful. The presentation of each dish was breath-taking and there was slight guilt as I spoiled the display with each mouthful.

Service - without dismissing the quality of the food in anyway, my favourite aspect of the visit to Ramsay's has to be how attentive the entire restaurant staff were. They were all very well trained and displayed a high standard of waiting at the tables yet without being at all intrusive.
